The Timelessness of the Kaftan

Picture
Kaftans have been worn in one way or another since at least the 14th century as it is known today, but even long before that the tunic gown was worn, so the earliest version of the Kaftan can most likely be dated to closer to 2,200 years old!  The timeless tunic shape whether belted or left to fall loosely is flattering to all shapes, and immediately adds an air of mystery, elegance and grandeur.

While commonly worn in Middle Eastern countries, the Kaftan has made appearances here and there amongst western designers and celebrities.  The Kaftan is a classic piece that is always in, its only change being in colors, decorations, and other minor stylistic variations.

Above in the pictures (all taken from Pinterest), you can see a small sampling of the variations of Kaftans out there suitable for all tastes and preferences.  I recently purchased a beautiful Kaftan and few clothing items have made me feel so comfortable yet elegant and beautiful, and I love all kinds of clothes! Next time you're attending an event or are looking to venture into uncharted fashionable waters, try the Kaftan!
